Стаття присвячена пам’яті Володимира Костянтиновича Гавриша (22.04.1925—14.06.2004) — відомого вченого і дослідника в галузі загальної і нафтогазової геології. Наукова діяльність В.К. Гавриша пов'язана із вивченням геології та нафтогазоносності Доно-Дніпровського прогину або Доно-Донецького рифтогену. Вчений зробив великий теоретичний й прикладний внесок у галузі методики пошуків та прогнозу нафтогазоносних структур і родовищ. Чільне місце в його доробку займають дослідження глибинних структур, розломів, геотектонічного розвитку та нафтогазоносності рифтогенів. Наведено приклади теоретичного й прикладного внеску В.К. Гавриша в галузі методики пошуків та прогнозу нафтогазоносних структур і родовищ, що сприяло раціональному науковому обґрунтуванню перспектив нафтогазовидобування в країні й підвищенню ефективності геолого-геофізичних робіт на вуглеводні у Дніпровсько-Донецькій западині. Зроблено огляд наукових здобутків В.К. Гавриша, які опубліковано більш як у 370 наукових роботах (монографіях, статтях, препринтах) з нафтогазоносності, структурної геології і геотектоніки Доно-Дніпровського прогину або Доно-Донецького рифтогену.
